Sherin and I visited comic book shops across the area during today’s Free Comic Book Day event. Our first stop was in College Park, Maryland, at Big Planet Comics. My friend, Harry Cee, invited me as he was planning on being in the house with fellow cosplayers Wendell Smith and Iggy Tissera. I met Harry and Iggy at last year’s Baltimore Comicon and they are aces! Iggy was in attendance early Friday morning when I organized a group to see the midnight showing of Thor at the Regal Majestic.
The next stop on our whirlwind tour was in Silver Spring, Maryland at Alliance Comics. Gerry and Amy McNeal had a full house and a trivia contest going on when we arrived. I got to see my buddy, Troy Jeffrey Allen, who writes Bam!
Sherin and I ended the day in Falls Church, Virginia at Victory Comics. As always, Jeff Weaver made us welcome amidst the flurry of activity at this busy store. In addition to comics, Victory also boasts a robust gaming component. There was a huge Magic: The Gathering tournament starting this afternoon. We were delighted to see our friend and FF Panelist, James Rambo. I had to pry Sherin out of there at the end. She would have kept Rambo’s interview going all night.
All in all, we had a great time. Many thanks to the comics retailers and publishers for this grand annual event!
